Heritage Walk through the Golden Fort

This is a walk through Sonar Kila, the Golden Fort built by Rawal Jaisal in 1156. Sonar Kila is a fortified settlement, containing not only the royal palaces, but also temples, mansions, bazaars and residential areas.

Start point: Entrance to Jaisal Italy, an Italian restaurant at Akhai Pol (first gate to the fort)

Coverage:
Introduction to the fort history, the series of gates to enter the fort (Akhai Pol, Ganesh Pol, Suraj Pol, Hava Pol), Dushera Chowk, Fort Palace Museum, Viewpoints for city and desert view, Jain temple (Shri Chandraprabhuswami Temple), Hindu temple (Laxminarayan Temple), Residential streets and bazaars. There will be a tea break during the tour.

End point: Same as start point

Cost and How to Book:

  • INR 750 per person for 7-10 persons
  • INR 1000 per person for 5-6 persons
  • INR 1250 per person for 3-4 persons
  • INR 1750 per person for 2 persons
  • INR 3000 for a solo traveller

Includes: English-speaking local guide, tea at a local cafe, entrances to Fort Palace Museum, personalised walk and all taxes.

Tour Notes: This tour is not ideal for those who with mobility restrictions or those on wheelchairs. The temples and the museum require climbing. There is considerable walking in the fort as well. The Jain temple has entrance fees for those who which to take cameras inside (not included in the tour cost).
